According to Afridi, face-to-face communication is more efficient than media communication.

In response to questions about the issue, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi said that communication between the players and the board should be transparent.

Virat Kohli – rather unceremoniously – was removed from captaincy of the Indian team in the One-Day Internationals earlier this month, which caused controversy. Additionally, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that the board had asked Kohli not to step down as T20I captain in October, and that once Kohli stepped down, selectors were not inclined to have two separate captains in white-ball cricket.

”A better approach would have been appropriate in this case. As a cricket enthusiast, I’ve always thought that boards play an important role. If a particular player is being considered, the selection committee should convey their plans for him or her effectively – this is our plan, we believe it is better. Do you agree?” Stated Afridi in a recent interview. “Communication via the media leads to issues. Talking face-to-face may lead to solutions. If you drag the issue out, it won’t get resolved. There shouldn’t be a communication gap between players and any board, ” Afridi concluded.

Rohit Sharma now serves as India’s full-time captain in limited-overs cricket, while Virat Kohli retains his leadership position in Test cricket.
