A three-match ODI series between Australia and England gets underway on Thursday afternoon at the Adelaide Oval. This will be Australia’s first ODI since beating New Zealand 3-0 in early September. England drew their last series 1-1 with South Africa. Australia were unfortunate to be eliminated from the T20 World Cup at the group stage but have been in excellent form against all teams in ODIs. They are never an easy team to beat on home soil in any format. England will still be on a high after their T20 World Cup triumph but this game may come too soon and there could well be some fatigue in the squad. Motivation could be an issue and the opposition are also very talented.

Australia will have a bowling attack with more pace in this game and their players have had a longer rest since their last match. Both of these factors could be crucial during the first ODI. Whenever Australia and England go head to head in any format, there is always a great buzz and although this clash comes so soon after the T20 World Cup, the attention and excitement will remain. Australia’s top players are all on show in this game whereas England has rested some of their top players with the ball. As a result, we are predicting an Australian victory. Considering the team combination, Australia is expected to win this match.
