Dawid Malan gave it his all in the first ODI, only to see his teammates let him down. He took England to a respectable score, but Australia were at ease in the chase. David Warner found form and a new opening partner as him and Travis Head raced through the chase. Along with them, Steve Smith looked pretty fluent too, while Pat Cummins looked good with the wickets while bowling.

Weather remains a threat in Sydney, but the possibility of rain remains lower than it was during the World Cup.
The Sydney track has some cracks on it and is expected to spin. Batting first is a better option.
David Warner, Travis Head, Steve Smith, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey, Marcus Stoinis, Cameron Green, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc, Ashton Agar
Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Dawid Malan, James Vince, Jos Buttler, Sam Billings, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Adil Rashid
Travid Head, taking the place of Aaron Finch had some huge shoes to fill. In his first game though, Travid Head has fallen in place nicely as an opener. He is showing some potential in his ability to give solid starts and communicated well with David Warner too.
Dawid Malan was a lone warrior in the first ODI. His 134 was of top quality, and his contribution will please him nicely. He is a player known for his consistency and with a big score to his name, more could well be on the way.

Australia are a strong side at home while England are the World Champions in both white-ball formats. While England are depleted a touch, they still have most of their best white-ball players, and that will help them big time in the upcoming game.
