In Chattogram, Bangladesh defeated Ireland by 77 runs to win the T20I series. Litton Das assisted Shakib Al Hasan. They were the best scorers in the hosts’ overall performance, which gave them their second-largest win in the form (by runs). Litton’s 83 runs and three catches as wicketkeeper had an equal impact on Shakib’s match-winning 38 runs and a five-wicket haul.Â
Shakib passed Tim Southee by becoming the top wicket-taker in the T20I format with his second five-for. The rain-shortened game’s opening pair, Litton and Rony Talukdar, contributed 124 runs in 9.2 overs. Before Shakib’s performance, Litton scored 83 runs off just 41 balls.
Ireland failed to connect together a few decent overs and needed to improve in all three areas. The batting collapsed in the face of Shakib’s excellence after a lost catch and a few crucial misfields. Initially, the rain had earlier appeared to ruin the game’s chances just as play was about to begin.
Ten minutes after the coin toss on Wednesday afternoon, the first raindrops started to fall. The umpires declared a 3:15 p.m. start after the weather changed after 40 minutes, but a drizzle soon started.
Rony and Litton make a record-breaking start
The fastest fifty for the team. The individual quick fifty. The fastest team 100 he m that is fastest. The team’s largest opening stand. In a sensational opening partnership, Litton and Rony did it all as they blasted Ireland all over the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
9.2 overs of nonstop hitting gives enjoyment to the spectators. The Ireland bowlers and fielders were average, and the Bangladeshi pair broke multiple team records with 13 fours and five sixes. When Rony and Litton got large overs from Mark Adair and Graham Hume, Bangladesh sped to 50 in 3.3 overs. That was the first time an opening pair from Bangladesh had three straight fifty-plus stands.
With his three sixes, Litton landed over the point, long-off, and square-leg. The bulk of his 41-ball stay consisted of eight dot balls, while seven of his ten fours were hit behind square on either side of the wicket. It’s the lowest score by a Bangladeshi hitter in a knock of 75 or more. But, Litton’s innings came to a quick conclusion when, after a slight slowdown in the run rate, he edged legspinner White in the 12th over.
Shakib crushes Ireland with a five-for
Ireland’s pursuit was launched by Bangladesh with a wicket-first ball. After Litton held a wonderful catch racing to his right, Taskin Ahmed dispossessed the risky Paul Stirling. This is the second time in a T20I inning that Taskin has taken a wicket off the opening pitch. However, it was the Shakib demonstration after the second over. Lorcan Tucker gently brushed him to Rony at square leg with his first ball, scoring six.
Shakib created history when he became the only cricketer to ever twice in his career grab a five-for and score 30+ runs in a T20I. A bowler has claimed five wickets in the opening six overs of a T20I inning four times, including Lasith Malinga, Fred Klaassen, and Oshane Thomas. Shakib is the fourth to achieve this feat.
