In the Australian camp, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne already come in with some good scores behind them. When it comes to Test Cricket, both tend to step up another level, and are established as stars for their countries. David Warner is another who tends to be very dangerous at home while Usman Khawaja is one who has used his opportunities well as he makes continues to extend a start stop international career.

Travis Head Has a strong chance of ruling the Australian Test Summer

Travis Head though is one player who has had a peculiar situation. 28 Tests and a stint as Vice-Captain indicate that he is off to a decent start to his career. He started his career decently in Dubai but never managed to get past a few promising glimpses. Travis Head though, did threaten to reach special heights last summer. He started with a counter-attacking 152 on a comeback innings and ended with a century, earning the man of the series award in the last Ashes.

His performance though was not enough to help kick off his career. A silent year following, with low scores in Pakistan and Sri Lanka undid the efforts he put in at home last summer. Now, Travis Head come into the Australian summer on the back of some good scores in ODI Cricket. He is doing well taking Aaron Finch’s spot at the top and has formed a nice partnership with David Warner up front.

His form will help him come into the Test Summer as he is likely to be full on confidence. With West Indies taking them on first, Travis Head has a chance of starting very strong, before taking on a tougher South African bowling attack. A couple of good scores against West Indies will set himself up and running. If he manages to come up with a few dominating performances, Travis Head can again kick on to make a huge statement on his position in the Australian side. He is heading into his peak, and a string of good scores will help catapult his career like some of the greats had done so in the previous Australian Summers.

Travis Head though has some challenges ahead. Following the Australian Summer, Travis Head will again have to battle a subcontinent tour. This time around, Australia will be visiting India after the summer, and he will have one of his biggest challenges taking on the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in India.

He has approximately nine Tests ahead of him. His performances may not lead to a download spiral if they are bad, but some really nice performances here can help push his career forward a long way in the coming years.
