In the realms of cricket, the test format has always been the one that has a chance to see the real fanatics of the game. The red-ball format does test the spectators' patience to an extent, but even with a single delivery or batting stroke, it has an enormous potential to turn the game's tables.

The Indian Cricket Team is one of those sides who has been a trademark in being a consistent campaigner of the game's most extended format. Though the side did have its fair share of ups and downs in their white uniform, there were some unexpected ones too. Especially after having a forgettable whitewash against New Zealand at home, ending the hosts 18 consecutive series wins streak.

Not to forget, the team did produce some memorable encounters that many fanatics will know. Here's a rewind of the top three red-ball encounters from India's 2024 test-format campaign.

1. January 3-4: India vs South Africa (2nd Test, Freedom Trophy 2023-24)

This clash between the sport's powerhouses deserves to seal the first spot on the list. With the Indian side being the visitors to the daunting conditions of South Africa, it was evident that it would be an uphill task to scalp create a winning impact in the two-match test series. Though they had a forgettable loss in the first test match, losing by an innings and 32 runs, the away side was up for redemption.

On January 4th, India beat South Africa by seven wickets to register a win in the 2nd Test at the Newlands Stadium, Cape Town. The win would be highly accredited to the pacers who adapted to the hostile conditions and scalped some crucial wickets, thanks to Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. In this match, Siraj scalped his career-best figures with the red ball of 6/15.
