The team has played over 1050+ ODI matches, with a win percentage of above 50%. With that said, here are the five memorable ODI matches from the Indian team's triumphant books.

1983 Cricket World Cup Final vs West Indies

India defeated the West Indies in one of cricket's most surprising outcomes. It was a game-changer and the most-watched final of a limited-overs event. This resulted in an extraordinary boost for Indian cricket. From nowhere, India emerged as the squad to watch, when it was not a 50-over format, but a challenging 60-over one.

Being up against the robust two-time champions, West Indies, the team has since achieved cult status in Indian cricket. There was an appropriate homage to the triumph in the form of a film that glorified the achievement on the big screen. No matter how many more successes come in the future of the Indian team, the 1983 Cricket World Cup final will remain timeless.

1983 World Cup Group Stage Match vs Zimbabwe

Though the 1983 World Cup triumph was the first rock towards the Indian team's future successes, this matchup acted as the icing on the cake in their winning process. This comprised a wholesome captain's innings by Kapil Dev. In this match, the Indian skipper delivered a stunning innings that would be remembered as one of the finest in Indian cricket history.

With India struggling at 17/5 after losing the top and middle orders for single-digit scores, Kapil Dev stepped in to save the day. The right-hander smashed 175 runs off only 138 balls, including 16 fours and six sixes, helping India produce a competitive total culminating in a 31-run victory against Zimbabwe. He has also taken a wicket, demonstrating his outstanding all-round ability.

2011 Cricket World Cup Final vs Sri Lanka

A dream realised for millions of Indians 28 years after their first victory. And for the next generation of cricketers who wanted to present Sachin Tendulkar with the World Cup. The maestro was playing his final World Cup, which increased the anticipation after his impeccable and colossal career.

India's motivation came from a semifinal victory against Pakistan. Gautam Gambhir and M. S. Dhoni's superb batting helped India defeat a gallant Sri Lanka in the final. Gambhir provided the leadership, and Dhoni finished off things in style. No wonder this tournament was a befitting tribute to the Master Blaster.

This match unleashed the new heroes of the Indian cricket team. The youthful squad worked excellently with the adults to pull off a surprising coup at the birthplace of cricket. It was a thorough performance that demonstrated the trust that Sourav Ganguly fostered in his players.

Faced with a 326-run target at 146 for five, India rallied thanks to a thrilling performance by Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh. Their 120-run stand propelled India to the shore. Zaheer Khan scored the winning runs with three balls remaining, leaving the English devastated.

1996 Cricket World Cup Group Stage Match vs Pakistan

If we comprehend this match, it should be the Best vs Best. Like any intense India vs Pakistan clash, it is expected to be loaded with quality games and drama. The opponent was a crack combination. So was India. According to a few accounts, the Indian squad was under so much pressure that they did not even call for room service at their hotel before the play.

It all came down to who had the guts to deal with the problem. Ultimately, Navjot Singh Sidhu's best performance of 93 and Ajay Jadeja's blistering 45 secured victory for the home team. There was startled quiet as Saeed Anwar and Aamer Sohail threatened to steal the game, but local youngster Venkatesh Prasad turned the tide for India.
