The 14-year-old Ira Jadhav created history in Indian women’s cricket on Sunday (January 12) as she became the first Indian women’s cricketer to record a triple century in a limited-overs cricket match.
In the Women’s Under 19 One Day Trophy 2024-25, Mumbai faced Meghalaya in Bengaluru, where Mumbai scored a historic total of 563/3 in 50 overs. The 14-year-old opener Ira Jadhav had a major role in that unbelievable total as the right-handed batter scored 346 not out off 157 balls with the help of 42 fours and 16 sixes. It was the first triple century by an Indian woman in limited-overs cricket match history and also the highest individual score in the tournament history.
Jadhav ended her batting with a strike rate of 220.38. Three opposition bowlers conceded 100 or more runs, including the most runs conceding, skipper Awesa, with bowling figures of 10-0-125-1.
The early teenage opener Jadhav had a 274-run second-wicket partnership in just 155 balls with the skipper Hurley Gala, who was dismissed after scoring 116 off 79 balls with 14 fours and one six. Then, Diksha Pawar and Jadhav set up another 186-run partnership in only 85 balls for the third wicket.
After Pawar was dismissed for 39 runs off 35 balls, Mitali Harshad Mhatre put a 64-run partnership in 34 balls with Jadhav for the unbroken fourth wicket.
It was Jadhav’s second match in the ongoing Women’s Under 19 One Day Trophy 2024-25, as she scored 88 off 102 balls in the previous match with the help of 10 fours and two sixes.
