Pakistan Cricket Board is preparing carefully for the ICC Champions Trophy starting on February 19, and the government of Punjab has made a major effort to make things much better when it comes to security. They're not risking anything with the teams' safety, so every location, from Lahore to Rawalpindi, has taken care of security: from where the teams are staying to where they're playing.
Now, they're sending out around 17,000 security people to keep things tight in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Many people are watching. In Lahore alone, there's going to be 7,600 of these guards, and they're not just any guards. We are looking at special forces and elite officers. Rawalpindi isn't far behind with 4,500 personnel and 411 of these people are top-notch detectives.

To finish it, the Army's also got their backs if things go wrong, complete with snipers watching over and drones flying around during the games. It sounds unfathomably intense, but given everything, it's not unheard of. Karachi's part of the action too, with 5,000 police officers, some specially trained, patrolling around stadiums and ensuring the teams can move around without any fuss. It sounds like the Sindh police have a lot to do, but they've got plans to keep it all easy. This isn't the first time for Pakistan, though. They hosted the Asia Cup in 2023, but had to move many games to Sri Lanka because India wasn't quite accepting of playing in Pakistan. But for the Champions Trophy, Pakistan's hosting 11 games, and there's even a chance they'll host the final, which is strikingly large.
India's playing its matches in Dubai now. Before this major event begins, Pakistan has received a tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa with games in Lahore and Karachi. In regards to which, Karachi's will be in the spotlight from the very beginning, hosting the Champions Trophy's opening skill on February 19 plus, two tri series matches earlier on February 12 and 14. Pakistan is really honing their approach, though it sounds as though they are ending up a little worn out with all the security difficult jobs. But it's wiser to be careful.
