After India’s disastrous 2022 Asian Cup campaign, Team India needed to step up their game. There have been some bad decisions by captain Rohit Sharma, and some bad decisions by the selectors who pick the teams, both on and off the field. The selectors have tried too many things to experiment with the team.
Rishabh Pant:
Rishabh Pant was a disappointment in the T20 for India. He got a long rope but so far has not lived up to expectations. He was tried in the middle position and was also given a chance to open in the England T20 series. But he still has not delivered with a bat. So should Pant get another chance in a playing XI where the world is very close or Dinesh Karthik who has been consistent in the finisher role should be included in the XI. India must stick to their best combination.
KL Rahul:
Rahul is one of India’s top stars in T20Is, but hasn’t been racing much lately. Also all three of him Rohit Sharma, Rahul and Virat Kohli play the same. Their approach is the same. With Rohit undroppable and Kohli back among runs, it’s no surprise that these two of them open the innings and Suryakumar Yadav bats at No. 3.
R Ashwin:
One still doesn’t understand what R Ashwin is doing with the team and Kuldeep Yadav still sitting out. The selectors experimented a little too much, but it’s time to stop experimenting and trust the likes of Axar Patels, Ravindra Jadejas and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Avesh Khan:
His recent poor show with ball in hand has shown that Avesh Khan is not yet on the international stage. He made a big impact on his IPL, but is still developing.
Ravi Bishnoi:
The Indian team tried another leg spin option on Ravi Bishnoi. But heading into the World Cup, it’s time to consistently add Chahal to the squad. In that case, Bishnoy should not be in the 15-man team. But Bishnoy is definitely a bowler for the future.
