It was yet another milestone for Virat Kohli in international cricket on Monday. The second and final Test against New Zealand was won by India by a mammoth 372-run margin at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. With his fifty wins in each format of the game, Kohli became the first player ever to achieve this feat. After India defeated the Kiwis in the series, the BCCI tweeted, “Congratulations @imVkohli. The first player with 50 international wins in each format of the game.”

With the Blackcaps trying to chase 540, spinners Ravichandran Ashwin (4/34) and Jayant Yadav (4/49) each took four wickets to restrict New Zealand to 167 runs. In their second innings, India declared at 276/7 with Mayank Agarwal top-scoring with 62. India initially chose to bat against the Blackcaps in the second Test. As the hosts reached 325 in their first innings, Agarwal scored a magnificent 150, his fourth Test century. In response, the Indian bowlers bowled the Kiwis out for 62 runs. In addition to Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj, who took three wickets, had also taken four for 8. Interestingly, team India’s first test series victory came under Rahul Dravid’s leadership.

Kohli will lead India in three Tests starting December 26 in South Africa. In addition to the Test series, both teams will play three One Day Internationals. The excitement is once again in the air!
