Leg-spinner Allah Ghazanfar of Afghanistan has been dropped from the team which will take part in ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after being ruled out due to a major back injury by Afghanistan. Afghanistan still has to recover from Zimbabwe tour Afghanistan fractured his on that tour. This injury will mean he needs a lot of rest in which case we could be talking several months off cricket.
Impact of Champions Trophy 2025
Afghanistan team hit a hard blow without Ghazanfar. Army will be missing a key piece of the puzzle in team’s bowling attack with veteran spinners Rashid Khan & Mohammad Nabi — Kabir hoped to lead the charge alongside his illustrious counterparts. The tournament-minded Afghans would need to figure out some other spinners without him.

IPL 2025 missing
Ghazanfar will also be absent from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, along with the Champions Trophy. For Mumbai Indians, one of the top teams for grooming youngsters he had made his way to play his first game. This has meant his injury had spoilt their bowling plans and he will have to be found in the market before the T20 is underway.
