The clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2025 delivered everything fans could ask for fireworks, drama, and a record-breaking performance. LSG were put in to bat first and got off to a bright start, thanks to Mitchell Marsh, who lit up the Ekana Stadium with a blazing 60 off just 31 balls. He smashed boundaries all over the park and gave LSG the early momentum.
At the other end, Aiden Markram added class and composure to a half-century for his team. The duo kept the scoreboard good and had LSG cruising towards a massive total. But just when things looked comfortable for Lucknow, MI captain Hardik Pandya flipped the script.
Hardik bowled one of the best spells of his T20 career, finishing with best figures of 5 for 33 his best in the T20 format. Using a clever mix of slower deliveries and bouncers, he ripped through LSG’s middle order. When the partnership was built, Hardik broke their break the partnership. His spell not only backed Mumbai into the game but also earned him a special milestone in IPL history as the first-ever captain to take a five-wicket haul in the IPL tournament.
His fiery performance and his experience captaincy helped stop LSG from posting an even bigger total, but they still managed a challenging 203/8 giving their bowlers something solid to defend.
The Final Twist in the first innings took good momentum carried into the chase, fans expected a strong finish to win the chase. But cricket is a game of surprises, and LSG’s bowlers held their nerves under pressure, defending the total in a nail-biting finish. Despite Hardik’s heroic gameplay, Mumbai fell just short, and Lucknow won against Mumbai Indians.
