India’s Got Latent show is in full controversy, while Mumbai Cyber Cell steps in after the FIR filed against its judges, including one Indian international cricketer, who holds not only some international records but also one all-time IPL record at present.
India’s Got Latent is an Indian talent show, which is inspired by a British talent show “Got Talent” and an American show “Kill Tony”. Indian stand-up comedian and YouTuber Samay Raina hosts the show, which was first released on June 14, 2024. The show can be seen on their official YouTube account and official website.
Contestants get 90 seconds to perform and show their talents, which can be singing, dancing, comedy, or anything else. The judging panel, including the regular judge Balraj Singh Ghai and other celebrities as guest judges, provides feedback to the performers. Each contestant rates their own before the self-performances, and if the judging panel’s average rating matches the self-rating, the contestant is declared the winner.
There is also a paid membership plan of INR 49/month, where the members can access the live streams, all unlisted content, members-only live chat, discord voice channel, and deleted footage.
Many popular Indian names have appeared in the India's Got Latent shows. Some of these names are rappers Badshah (Aditya Prateek Singh) and Raftaar (Dilin Nair), singer Tony Kakkar, comedians Nishant Tanwar (Joke Singh), Atul Khatri, Tanmay Bhatt, Bharti Singh and her husband screenwriter and producer Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Kunal Kamra, etc., actors Siddhant Chaturvedi, Avika Gor, Raghu Ram, Saurabh Pandey, Poonam Pandey, Rakhi Sawant, Urfi Javed, etc., YouTube celebrities Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps), etc., social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija (The Rebel Kid).
In a recent India's Got Latent show, Ranveer Allahbadia made a controversial comment that is now very much known to Indian internet users. Apoorva Mukhija is also in trouble for her comments. Although Ranveer has apologised publicly through social media, the controversies are only growing.
The controversial video has been blocked by YouTube after receiving a removal request from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Guwahati Police registered an FIR against the show's judges. The FIR has been filed under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including promoting obscenity and engaging in vulgar discussions. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has confirmed the news, while Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis slammed the controversial comments.
The case has reportedly been filed against all the judges of various episodes of the show, which can be more than 30 names. Apart from the main accused persons, all other judges can be called to record their statements.
Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, the former leading T20I wicket-taker for India and the leading wicket-taker in IPL was also a judge in one of the episodes of the show. So, Chahal can be called to record his statement regarding the show. While Chahal hasn’t played an international match since August 2023, although he was a team member of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 winning team, he is in the news for unverified divorce rumours with Dhanashree Verma, a dance choreographer, and YouTuber.
