Former Indian left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra has had a mostly successful coaching stint with the Gujarat Titans. However, his future as the head coach of the Gujarat Titans is doubtful, as the owners are reportedly looking to change the coaching staff before the IPL 2025.

Gujarat Titans made their Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2022 when the Hardik Pandya-led team won the IPL 2022 title after beating Rajasthan Royals in the final.

In the IPL 2023, the Hardik Pandya-led Titans reached another final but ended the tournament as the runners-up after losing the final against the Chennai Super Kings.

Hardik Pandya was traded to the Mumbai Indians before the IPL 2024 auction. Under the new captain Shubman Gill, the Titans finished in eighth place at the IPL 2024. While the team wasn’t consistent enough during the IPL 2024, their last two fixtures were washed out in the rain.

Gujarat Titans had a strong coaching team

The Titans’ stable coaching team had a significant impact on the team’s major IPL successes. Ashish Nehra was strong as the head coach. Meanwhile, former English cricketer Vikram Solanki had a key role as the director of cricket, and former South African cricketer and 2011 World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten was successful as the batting coach and mentor. Also, the former Indian spinner Ashish Kapoor was another regular name for the team bowling coach.

However, after the IPL 2024, Kirsten joined the Pakistan national cricket team as the head coach.

While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to continue the mega auction for the IPL 2025, the Titans’ owner CVC Capital Partners is reportedly considering changing the coaching staff.

Nehra wasn’t frequently spotted by television cameras throughout the IPL 2024

According to a recent Cricbuzz report, Nehra’s head coach role for the Titans is uncertain. The report also noted that Nehra wasn’t frequently spotted by television cameras throughout the IPL 2024, which raises doubts.

The Cricbuzz report further added that Solakni may remain as the Titans’ director of cricket for the IPL 2025.

There is also speculation of Titans' management changing from CVC to either Torrent Pharma or the Adani Group.
