Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin claimed a six-wicket haul in the fourth innings of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh, which helped the hosts India to win the Test match by 280 runs. With his latest fifer, Ashwin levelled the legendary Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne’s achievement in a Test record book.
India set a 515-run target for Bangladesh in the fourth innings of the Chennai Test. Bangladesh started the fourth day with 158/4, where Ravichandran Ashwin already picked up three wickets.
After the 48-run partnership for the fifth wicket between the captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh lost their fifth wicket, and their batting collapsed quickly after that. The visitors lost their last six wickets for only 40 runs, while the skipper Shanto (82) was the only Bangladesh batter to reach the 40-run mark in that innings.
Ashwin, who failed to pick up one wicket in the Bangladesh first innings, bagged six wickets in the fourth innings. The off-spinner finished the fourth innings with the bowling figures of 21-0-88-6.
