Australia comfortably won the three-match T20I series opener against the hosts Scotland, where the visitors set two T20I world records.
After restricting Scotland to 154/9, Australia chased the target in 9.4 overs after losing three wickets. Aussie opener Travis Head scored 80 runs off just 25 balls, where he equalled the fastest T20I fifty for Australia.
After Australia sent the hosts bat first, Scotland fought hard to set a challenging T20I target. Opener George Munsey (28), captain Richie Berrington (23), and wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Cross (27) reached the 20-run mark in the first innings.
Among the Aussie bowlers, Sean Abbott (3/39) scalped three wickets, while Xavier Bartlett (2/23) and Adam Zampa (2/33) collected two wickets each. Riley Meredith (1/34) and Cameron Green (1/12) also ended the innings with one wicket each.
Although T20I debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk scored a three-ball duck as an opener, Australia comfortably chased the target in less than ten overs.
Head scored 80 runs with the help of 12 fours and five sixes. Meanwhile, the skipper Mitchell Marsh scored 39 runs off only 12 balls (five fours and three sixes). Also, the wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglish (27* off 13 balls) remained not out along with Marcu Stoinis (8* off 5 balls) in that successful chase.

Australia recorded the highest powerplay score in T20I history; second highest in T20 history
In the powerplay, Australia scored 113/1 in six overs. It set a new world record in T20I history with the highest score in the powerplay. The previous record was 102/0 by South Africa against West Indies during the 2023 Centurion T20I.
Meanwhile, in T20 cricket history, SunRisers Hyderabad hold the highest score in the powerplay record with 125/0 against Delhi Capitals at the IPL 2024. Australia’s 113/1 against Scotland sits in second place in the list of the highest scores in powerplay in T20 cricket history.
Travis Head leveled fastest T20I fifty record for Australia
Travis Head completed his half-century in just 17 balls. It equalled the record for the fastest T20I half-century by an Australian batter. During the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, Marcus Stoinis smashed a 17-ball fifty against Sri Lanka.
Australia recorded the fastest 150 or more runs chase in T20I history; equalled with the T20 record
Australia successfully chased the 155-run target in just 9.4 overs. It was the new T20I record for the fastest 150+ chase in T20I history. It was the first T20I match that experienced 150+ chasing in less than 10 overs. The previous record was Romania chasing the 158-run target against Greece in 12.5 overs during the 2021 Sofia T20I.
In the meantime, Australia equalled the record for the fastest 150+ chase in T20 history. During the IPL 2024, SunRisers Hyderabad successfully chased the 166-run target in 9.4 overs against Lucknow Super Giants.
