Australia recorded their highest Test innings total in Asia after scoring 654/6 decl. in the ongoing Galle Test.
Visitors Australia started their Sri Lanka tour strongly in the two-match Test series, which is a part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-2025. Aussie batters completely dominated the first two days of the Test series opener at Galle.
With the help of three centuries, including one double hundred, visitors Australia scored 654/6 before the declaration. In reply, the hosts Sri Lanka scored 44/3 at the stumps on the third day.
Aussie opener Usman Khawaja scored 232 off 352 balls with 16 fours and one six. Also, the skipper Steven Smith scored 141 off 251 balls (12 fours and two sixes), while the Test debutant Josh Inglis scored 102 off 94 balls (10 fours and one six).
Australia’s 654/6 (decl.) was their highest total in a Test innings in Asia. It was their second 600+ Test innings total in Asia, while they previously scored 617 against the hosts Pakistan at Faisalabad in 1980.
