Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Azam Khan once again made headlines after an unusual and painful dismissal in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024. During a match between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, Azam was dismissed after scoring just 9 runs, courtesy of a bouncer from fast bowler Shamar Springer. The ball struck Azam directly on the neck, causing him to lose balance and collapse to the ground. In the process, his bat unintentionally hit the stumps, resulting in a hit wicket dismissal.

Khurram Shahzad shines as Pakistan puts Bangladesh on the back foot in the second Test

While the drama unfolded in the CPL, Khurram Shahzad stole the show in the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. Shahzad delivered a stunning performance, taking four wickets and leaving Bangladesh struggling at 75-6 at lunch on the third day. The fast bowler's figures of 4-15 were instrumental in reducing Bangladesh to 26-6 in response to Pakistan’s first innings total of 274 in a rain-affected match.

Shahzad’s fiery spell dismantled Bangladesh's top order, with fellow fast bowler Mir Hamza contributing by taking 2-29. Despite the collapse, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Litton Das displayed resilience, forging an unbeaten seventh-wicket stand worth 49 runs. Mehidy, in particular, played a gritty knock of 33 runs, including seven fours, as Bangladesh fought to avoid the follow-on. The team still needed another 49 runs with four wickets in hand to avoid further trouble.
