The 31-year-old Indian left-arm pacer Barinder Sran has announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket. 

In January 2016, during India's tour of Australia, Barinder Sran made his international cricket debut during the Perth ODI. Before that ODI, he played only eight List A games. On his ODI debut in Perth, Sran took three wickets for 56 runs. 

Later, during India’s tour of Zimbabwe in 2016, Sran made his T20I debut. On his T20I debut, Sran recorded the best T20I bowling figures by an Indian debutant with bowling figures of 4-0-10-4. It is still a record by an Indian T20I debutant. Meanwhile, it is still the record bowling figures by a left-arm pacer on T20I debut. 

Sran played six ODIs and two T20Is, all in 2016. The left-arm pacer took seven and six wickets in the ODI and T20I formats, respectively.

I officially hang up my cricket boots: Barinder Sran

Sran announced his retirement from all forms of the game on Thursday (August 29). 

Sran wrote on Instagram, "As I officially hang up my cricket boots, I look back at my journey with a heart full of gratitude. Cricket has gifted me innumerable and incredible experiences. Fast bowling soon became my lucky charm and opened doors to represent prestigious IPL franchises, ultimately culminating in the highest honor of representing India in 2016.

"Even though my international career was brief, the memories created will be forever cherished. I am eternally grateful to the almighty for getting me the right coaches and management, who have supported me throughout my journey."

From 2011 to 2021, Sran played 18 first-class matches, 31 List A games, and 48 T20s, where the left-arm pacer picked up 47, 45, and 45 wickets, respectively. 

Recently, the Aussie Cricket League T20 announced Melbourne Pirates' signing of Barinder Sran for the ACL 2024. He previously participated in the ACL 2022. Just more than a week after this announcement, Sran announced his retirement from the game.  

Barinder Sran played for four IPL teams

Sran also served for four IPL teams. He played for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2015, while he served for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2016 and IPL 2017. Later, the left-arm pacer played for Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2018 and Mumbai Indians in IPL 2019. In his 24 IPL matches, Sran took 18 wickets. He was part of the two IPL-winning teams Sunrisers Hyderabad (2016) and Mumbai Indians (2019).
