Mitchell Owen, who plays for the Hobart Hurricanes, did something amazing. Owen tied the record for the quickest 100 runs in the Major Bash League. Owen made those runs amazingly quick, using only 39 balls, when they played against the Sydney Thunder. An important game happened at the Bellerive Oval. Mitchell Owen, a 23 year old man, got to do this great thing during the final game of the BBL in the 2024-2025 season on a Monday.
Owen also got the fastest 50 runs in a BBL final because he did that in just 16 balls. That helped his team to try and win by getting 183 runs. Owen struck the ball with great force, with many doubles and important sixes, and teamed up with another player to add 109 runs for the first wicket, which was very good for his team. His team needed to begin well to attempt to win the game and he gave them just that.
By doing what Craig Simmons did once, back in 2014, Owen's name got written in the record books too. Because of what Mitchell did, everyone sees him as a really great young cricket player from Australia. His knock for playing incredibly well when everything is on the line in the final game, showed clearly for those watching his strong belief in his skills. That'll help him play on larger teams later on. Owen was acknowledged out of necessity for how great he played, which was really key for the Hurricanes to try to succeed. Mitchell Owen just did something really great , Owen hit so many runs in the game that he helped his team, the Hobart Hurricanes, do extremely well in the BBL final.
