BCCI's stance against corruption is crystal clear— zero tolerance. Indian cricket history contains multiple dark chapters related to match fixing and corruption. Over the years, Indian cricket has changed a lot to make the game clean from any kind of corruption.

In a recent event, the BCCI ombudsman has chosen the highest order against a person who is alleged to have match-fixed. A lifetime ban has been imposed on Gurmeet Singh Bhamrah, a T20 team owner, by the BCCI Ombudsman, Justice Arun Mishra. Bhamrah was alleged to have fixed a match in the Mumbai T20 league. The questionable incident took place in the second season, in 2019, of the Mumbai T20 league semi-final.

According to several reports, Gurmeet conversed with a player with the intent of match-fixing. The cricketer informed the authority about Bhamrah's approach, and an investigation ignited following the information provided by the cricketer. The investigation process, led by BCCI, found Gurmeet Singh Bhamrah guilty with evidence.

 A clear statement from BCCI

After the investigation, the board transferred the matter to their ombudsman, Justice Arun Mishra. After examining all proofs, Justice Mishra decided to ban the T20 team owner for a lifetime. It was a clear statement against corruption in cricket from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Ombudsman Justice Mishra, who was a former judge of the Supreme Court of India.

After the conclusion of the ongoing IPL 2025, the Mumbai T20 League's upcoming season is set to start. This edition will feature eight teams, including the existing franchises: North Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Namo Bandra Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers, and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs.

A portion of the order copy states, "Transcript of the conversation shows that Sonu Vasan offered money and other benefits to Bhavin Thakkar at the behest of the respondent. Upon meriting the entire offer that he made on behalf of the respondent, Sonu Vasan told Bhavin Thakkar whatever call Thakkar wishes to take in the matter, Vasan would relay it back to the respondent."
