The exceptional century of Vaibhav Suryavanshi against Gujarat Titans on Monday (April 28, 2025) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium left all cricket lovers in utter disbelief, but it is the reality— a 14-year-old boy toyed with a team's entire bowling unit and scored a century. The boy, hailing from Bihar, just got a surprising gift from the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, has announced a Rs 10 lakh cash prize for Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Rajasthan Royals put Vaibhav into their squad by spending Rs 1.10 Cr during the IPL 2025 mega auction. A boy, 14, already in the cash-rich tournament, was sensational news then. But who thought that boy was going to make a permanent impression in the history of the Indian Premier League with a lightning-fast century? Suryavanshi shattered more than 10 T20 records, including IPL, and became the youngest ever cricketer to hit a century in the 20-20 format.
After Chris Gayle, he got the second-fastest hundred in IPL. Chris Gayle's 30-ball heroic effort against Pune Warriors in 2013 is the fastest century ever recorded in an IPL match. On the other hand, Vaibhav played 35 to complete his hundred with eleven over boundaries and seven boundaries.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has congratulated the talented players and their families. Kumar recalled when he first met with Suryavanshi in 2024 and wished him a bright future. Nitish Kumar tagged the upcoming star as a new hope of Indian cricket.
"Congratulations and best wishes to Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Bihar, who became the youngest player (14 years) to score a century in the history of IPL. He has become a new hope for Indian cricket as a result of his hard work and talent. Everyone is proud of him. I met Mr. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his father in 2024, and at that time, I wished him a bright future. After his brilliant performance in IPL, I also congratulated him over the phone. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a young cricketer from Bihar, will also be given prize money of Rs 10 lakh by the state government. I wish that Vaibhav creates new records for the Indian team in the future and brings glory to the country," Nitish said.
