While India and Australia have started their battle in the crucial Brisbane Test, legendary Indian cricketer Virat Kohli made history by appearing in the Test match.

Virat Kohli playing his 100th international match against Australia

The Gabba Test is the 100th international match against Australia for Virat Kohli. He became the second cricketer to play 100 or more international matches against Australia. Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was the first to achieve this milestone, playing 110 international matches against Australia.

The Brisbane Test is the third game of the five-match Test series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. While the visitors India won the Test series opener by 295 runs in Perth, the hosts Australia won the second Test in Adelaide, which was also a day-night pink ball Test match, won by 10 wickets. It is a very crucial Test series for both Australia and India as both teams are fighting to secure the top two places for the 2023-2025 ICC World Test Championship points table, which will guide them to the final of the ongoing Test Championship cycle.

India made two changes in the playing XI as Ravichandran Ashwin and Harshit Rana have been dropped, while Ravindra Jadeja and Akash Deep have joined the squad. Meanwhile, Australia made one obvious change as fit Josh Hazlewood replaced Scott Boland.
