As the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is knocking on the door, all Indian cricket fans have one big question: will Jasprit Bumrah be available for the tournament? Indian captain Rohit Sharma has brought the update on Burmah’s fitness ahead of the beginning of the home ODI series against England.
While the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 runners-up India played only three ODIs in 2024, the three-match home ODI series against England will be a good preparation for the Men in Blue ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The ODI series will be played at Nagpur, Cuttack, and Ahmedabad on February 6, 9, and 12, respectively.
After the ODI series, both India and England will participate in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host between February 19 and March 9, 2025.

Due to the excessive workload during the Australia tour for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which India lost by 3-1 last January, Jasprit Bumrah suffered a back spasm. While he was obviously rested for the recently concluded home T20I series against England, where India won by 4-1, Bumrah will also miss at least the first two ODIs of the three-match ODI series, as Harshit Rana has replaced him for the upcoming ODIs.
According to the initial report, Bumrah was expected to be the match-fit for the third ODI of the home series against England. However, the Men in Blues will not rush into him, especially when the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is very close.
Indian Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma clarified that the mystery about Bumrah’s fitness would be clear soon with upcoming scan reports. The Indian skipper hasn’t confirmed the right-arm fast bowlers’ availability for the Ahmedabad ODI.
Rohit said, “Jasprit, obviously we're waiting on some update about his scan, which is due to happen in the next few days. We're just waiting on that update, which is going to happen in the next few days, the scan. Then, probably we'll have a little more clarity about his participation in the last ODI.”
