Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant hit his sixth Test century during India’s second innings of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh. With the hundred, Pant set new Test records, including reaching on top of an ICC World Test Championship record.
During India’s second innings of the ongoing Chennai Test against Bangladesh, wicketkeeper-batter Pant came to bat when India were struggling at 67/3. While the left-handed batter scored crucial 39 off 52 balls in the first innings of the match, he scored a great Test century in the second innings.
The ongoing Chennai Test is Pant’s first Test after 637 days, as he last played a Test match in December 2022 at Mirpur. In India’s second innings of the Chennai Test, Pant completed his sixth Test century in 124 balls and scored 109 off 128 balls before losing his wicket. It was his first Test century after 810 days (previous Test century on 4th July 2022 against England at Birmingham).

Pant had a 167-run partnership for the fourth wicket with another centurion Shubman Gill before losing his wicket.
Rishabh Pant equalled most Test 100s record by an Indian wicketkeeper
With his sixth Test century, Pant equalled the record for most Test centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper-batter. Former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni previously held this record alone with six Test hundreds.

Pant set new record at the ICC World Test Championship
Meanwhile, it was Pant’s fourth century in the ICC World Test Championship. With his latest Test ton, Pant set up a new record for the most hundreds in the ICC World Test Championship. Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das and Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan are in the next places in this list with three centuries each.

Pant recorded 3rd Test century in the second innings of a Test
In the meantime, the latest Test century was also Pant’s third Test hundred in India’s second innings. While he is the only Indian wicketkeeper-batter to record multiple Test centuries in a team's second innings, he is joint second place in the list of most Test centuries by a wicketkeeper-batter in a team's second innings. Former Zimbabwean wicketkeeper-batter Andy Flower is the record holder in this list with five centuries.
