After losing BGT 2024-25, India will now focus on their white-ball cricket 5 T20I and 3 ODI matches home series against England.
The selection committee has not announced the squad yet, and its deadline is also 12th January to announce the squad for the Champions Trophy, but the team can make changes till 13th February.
India's squad for the ODI series against England will likely remain unchanged for the Champions Trophy, given the short time gap between the two events.
Strength:
India is one of the strongest teams in Group A and has an attacking opener like Rohit Sharma Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill as opening partner options. Yashasvi Jaiswal is an attacking player just like Rohit. Regarding the middle order, there is Virat Kohli whom India calls a run machine and Virat Kohli's consistency will help in the run leads.
After the batsmen, if we talk about all-rounders then there is Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel who have shown good performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup. If we talk about bowlers then there will be Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj and if Shami recovers from his injury then he will be there.
Weakness:
India’s major concern over the year is their under-pressure situation, almost every time India has failed to tackle pressure situations in crucial matches or knockouts. And the middle-order concerns - middle-order failure being a question.
India will play their first match against Bangladesh on 20th February - Dubai
On the 23rd Feb, they will play their second match against Pakistan - Dubai
On the 2nd March, India will play their last group stage match against New Zealand - Dubai
