Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the reigning champions, acquired six players during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction held in Dubai on Tuesday, December 19. Daryl Mitchell, the New Zealand batsman, emerged as their most substantial purchase at ₹14 crore. The 32-year-old showcased remarkable form during the 2023 World Cup, amassing 552 runs in nine innings, including two centuries.

The 32-year-old showcased remarkable form during the 2023 World Cup, amassing 552 runs in nine innings, including two centuries.CSK also invested ₹8.4 crore in acquiring Sameer Rizvi, a 20-year-old right-handed batter hailing from Uttar Pradesh. Rizvi boasts a T20 record of 295 runs in nine innings, maintaining an impressive average of 49.16 and a strike rate of 134.70.
Rachin Ravindra, the batting all-rounder from New Zealand, known for his exceptional performance in the World Cup with three centuries, joined CSK for ₹1.8 crore. The Kiwi entered the auction with a base price of ₹50 lakh.Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur, a pivotal member of the 2021 IPL-winning Chennai team, was acquired for ₹4 crore. Thakur had represented Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the previous two seasons.

In the accelerated round, CSK added the experienced Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman to their squad for ₹2 crore. The final addition to their squad was Avanish Rao Aravelly, secured at the auction for ₹20 lakh.
Chennai Super Kings entered the IPL 2024 auction with a purse of ₹31.4 crore and had a maximum of six slots available, including three overseas slots. Following the successful acquisitions, they concluded the auction with ₹1 crore remaining in their purse.
