Chris Gayle, one of the best T20 batters in the World and a West Indies Legend will not be playing in the Caribbean Premier League. Instead of taking part in the Caribbean Premier League, Chris Gayle will be turning up in the 6ixty tournament. The tournament is a ten over aside tournament running from August 24th to August 28th.
Along with his interest as a player, Chris Gayle is an ambassador for the 6ixty tournament. The other West Indies players are to join after an ODI series with New Zealand. There are also a few overseas players taking part. With the tournament clashing with the Hundred, the availability of some top overseas stars remains a question.

The 6ixty comes with some interesting rules that Chris Gayle is looking to activate. One of the rules is regarding unlocking the third powerplay over. The condition mentions that if two sixes are hit in the first two overs, a one-over extension will be given. Furthermore, the number of wickets for a batting side is less. Each team has six wickets rather than ten, and five overs will be from one end consecutively before changing ends.
Another interesting rule acts to prevent over-rate issues. In case the overs are not complete within 45 minutes, the fielding team will have to finish the innings with a player less. With interesting rules ahead, Chris Gayle is among a few excited players in the tournament, which is looking to bring a new concept to Cricket.
Chris Gayle did take part in the CPL last season. He is a CPL Champion having won the tournament last year with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Overall, Chris Gayle has 2519 runs in the CPL. He is the second-highest run-scorer in the league behind only Lendl Simmons. His last competitive game came in the Bangladesh Premier League when Chris Gayle played for Fortune Barishal.
He is still an active cricketer in International Cricket as well. Having last been a participant in the T20 World Cup, Chris Gayle is yet to announce his retirement. While a comeback seems highly unlikely, he is still available. There is also a strong chance of Chris Gayle making an IPL comeback. Recently, Chris Gayle stated his interest in the tournament and about taking part in it.
