In the eighth match of the IPL 2025, the Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (CSK vs RCB) match will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai) on Friday evening (March 28). Both teams are ready for their second game of the season.
The five-time IPL champions CSK started the season with a good win against another five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians. Thanks to Noor Ahmed (4/18) and Khaleel Ahmed (3/29), CSK restricted MI to 155/9 in 20 overs. Although CSK were losing wickets regularly after the powerplay, the strong batting performances from the captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (53) and opener Rachin Ravindra (65 not out) were enough for the hosts to claim a four-wicket win with five balls to spare.

Before CSK, the three-time IPL runners-up RCB started the IPL 2025 with a thrashing seven-wicket win in the first game of the tournament against the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata. After KKR had a controlled start at batting first, Krunal Pandya (3/29) powered RCB to make a strong comeback in the game, and later, Phil Salt (56), former skipper Virat Kohli (59 not out), and captain Rajat Patidar (34) produced fiery batting to chase the 175-run target in 16.2 overs after losing only three wickets.
Both CSK and RCB are looking to maintain their respective strong start in the new IPL season. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar missed RCB's first match of the season, and his availability for their second game of the IPL 2025 isn't sure enough. While Kumar can join the RCB playing XI only with his proper fitness, the visitors can go with one extra spinner if the Chennai pitch brings spinners in favour. Without any injury concern, CSK are unlikely to make any significant changes in the playing XI.
