In Dehradun, the inaugural edition of the highly anticipated Indian Veteran Premier League (IVPL) is poised to commence on February 23, 2024, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
The Board for Veteran Cricket in India (BVCI) has orchestrated this extraordinary event, featuring cricketing legends such as Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle, Praveen Kumar, Yusuf Pathan, Herschelle Gibbs, and more. These iconic cricketers are prepared to showcase their unmatched prowess and skills, reinvigorating the cricket field. Spanning from February 23 to March 3, 2024, the IVPL will witness six formidable teams competing for glory in this distinctive cricketing spectacle.
The participating teams include VVIP Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan Legends, Red Carpet Delhi, Chhattisgarh Warriors, Telangana Tigers, and Mumbai Champions. Each team comprises a wealth of talent, uniting cricketing legends and regional stars to revive their passion for the game.
Shri Praveen Tyagi, the Acting President of BVCI and Chairman of IVPl, expressed, “We aim to establish one of the premier leagues in India post-IPL, featuring world-class cricketers of the Veteran Cricket stature, such as Chris Gayle, Virender Sehwag, and Suresh Raina. This initiative will inject new energy into Veteran Cricket in India, offering a magical experience for veteran cricketers playing alongside international stars from around the world. Anticipation is high for our inaugural season, with live matches broadcast on Euro Sports, DD Sports, and FANCODE. The first season holds exciting opportunities; the magic is set to unfold from February 23rd to March 3rd.”
The IVPL has 6 teams and each team will have four to five iconic players from accross the World. The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun is all set to be the epicenter of this cricketing extravaganza, providing fans with an unparalleled opportunity to witness their favorite cricketing icons in action.
