Indian Premier League 2022, Match 64: Punjab Kings went against Delhi Capitals at the DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai. Mitchell Marsh struck a fine half-century to take Delhi Capitals to 159 for 7 after an unforeseen middle order collapse against Punjab Kings in an IPL match on Monday. Marsh scored 63 off 48 balls with four fours and three sixes while Sarfaraz Khan (32 off 16 balls) also made useful contributions. For Punjab Kings, Liam Livingstone sailed both off-breaks and leg-breaks to pick up 3 for 27 in 4 overs.

Punjab kings win the toss and opt to field. Sarfaraz Khan and David Warner were the openers for Delhi. It’s the fifth opening brace they’ve used this season. Spin to start for Punjab. Liam Livingstone will start the proceedings. David Warner is gone after the first critical delivery, marking a good start for Punjab. Livingstone floats this one, outdoors out, it bounces a bit as well. Warner tries to work it but gets a thick outside edge and Chahar at point just takes a simple  catch. Marsh is in the red-hot form! With confidence, he takes on Rabada who bowls it full ball and Marsh cocklofts it through the line and straight down the ground for a biggie. SIX! BANG! AGAIN Pitched up, in the niche. Marsh shook a bit and slammed it over the corner for consecutive sixes.

DC 35/1 after 3 overs, SIX! Pounded In Sarfaraz Khan, also a FOUR! Good shot! Too short and outdoors out and Khan goes on the aft bottom and punches for a boundary. The last ball of the over is another FOUR! Delhi is going really well after losing that wicket! 15 runs off this over as well. The Sarfaraz show comes to an end. He departed after scoring 32 off 16 deliveries. Arshdeep Singh picks up his first wicket.

Short and wide outdoors out. Marsh goes back and cuts it forcefully through point for a boundary. DC67/2 after 7 overs. Rishabh Pant charges down the track and clobbers Liam Livingstone over long- on for one-handed outside. Flighted and on middle. Pant came out to the track and slammed it over long on for a biggie. Rishabh is out stumped. Liam Livingstone has got another left-handed batter. Pant tried to step out of the crinkle and has been stumped after fully missing the ball. DC107/4 after 12 overs. Big wicket for Punjab! Marsh is gone as he flicks it in the air towards deep mid-wicket. Rishi Dhawan takes a good catch. Just three runs from the over. Delhi Capitals 159/7 in 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh’s 63 and a quick- fire knock from Sarfaraz Khan guided DC to a respectable aggrewicket. Punjab did a good job to keep Delhi near the 160- run mark. At one stage, it looked like 170-175 pitch but it’s been on the slower side and Punjab will be the happier platoon at the break.

Bairstow and Dhawan are at the crease. Bairstow is on strike. Khaleel Ahmed will open the attack. Great shot by Bairstow to get off the mark with a four. Two fleck balls to follow. Anrich Nortje in to  bowl the alternate over. Dhawan off the mark with a single. Bairstow swings the coming ball into the hedge for a four. Beautiful shot. Lalit Yadav in to  bowl the penultimate over inside the powerplay. There is a huge cry for an LBW as Pant is jumping up and down for an eschewal. Onfield arbiter unmoved. Delhi review. It’s the arbiter’s call and it’s not out. Dhawan survives. Next ball, he rubs swab to DC injuries as he pulls one for a four. Should have been a run out but Yadav made a comical gamble with both batters stranded in the non-striker’s end. PBKS 44/1 after 5 overs.

Mayank Agarwal becomes Axar Patel’s 100th victim as he’s clean sailing. Punjab innings was in a whole lot of trouble then. Axar into the bowl on the 11th as Punjab looked for any kind of straw to clutch in order to undergird their innings. Just 2 runs obtained from the first 5 balls. A single to finish. PBKS 70/6 after 11 overs.

Khaleel Ahmed into the bowl on the 15th and Chahar gets a 2 from the first ball. Next ball is in the air and that falls juist safe. Oh that is a crack!!! Gone over the walls for a six!!! Great sound off the club. 100 up for Punjab. Shardul is to  bowl the 16th now. He gets hit for a six straightaway. Jitesh has decided he will go for him. 2 further runs from the coming 4 balls. PBKS 109/7 after 16 overs. Rabada hits a six and perishes the coming ball!!! That is another wicket for Thakur. PBKS lost their 9th wicket. Nortje bowled the 19th over. He’ll hope to wrap the effects up now. 2 runs from the first five balls. Another single to end this bone. Shardul bowled the last over and Chahar hit a four. Next ball is a miss. Looked veritably high to be honest. Oh no, that is a drop from Warner and Thakur doesn’t get his 5th wicket. Swings and misses the 5th ball. Each over. Delhi won by 17 runs.
