Over the past few months, the Indian team has been concerned about Virat Kohli’s form. Despite having multiple innings of 50+ scores in 2021, the 33-year-old failed to score an international century for a second straight year. On 35, Kohli gave away a strong start having chased a delivery outside the off-stump. Similar to the first innings, Kohli was dismissed in the second on 18.
Sunil Gavaskar defended Indian Test captain Virat Kohli during his struggles in South Africa. Gavaskar points out that Kohli’s luck has not been on his side as he has not benefited from “a life” in his innings recently. Kohli is being dismissed because of his “first mistake.”
“I think it would be fantastic if he called Sachin Tendulkar up and wished him a Happy New Year, then during the conversation, he could ask him how he curbed his off-side shots against Australia in 2003-04. The fourth Test match was his first time not playing through covers. Prior to that, he kept getting caught in covers or behind. “Maybe just wishing him a Happy New Year and asking him how he did it might help him as well, ” concluded Gavaskar.
