The achievement of Devdutt Padikkal scoring his first 1000 IPL runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) placed him among only two Indian batters behind Virat Kohli for RCB. Padikkal accomplished his historic 1000 IPL runs for RCB against Rajasthan Royals when he appeared in their April 13 (Sunday) contest and scored 40 runs from 28 balls.
Padikkal spent three IPL seasons with RCB from 2019 through 2021, followed by Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants, where he was acquired for Avesh Khan. The period that Padikkal spent in LSG produced only 38 runs from seven matches when his average was just 5.43.

The challenging times seemed to bounce off Padikkal after his unexpected comeback to RCB, where he revived his game during IPL 2025. The right-hand batters have achieved 95 runs across six matches, maintaining a strike rate of 131.94, which demonstrates better performance than his 71.70 strike rate in the previous season.

During the latest match, Padikkal advanced ahead of Rajat Patidar (985 runs) to establish his position as RCB's second Indian run-scorer in IPL history. The legendary Virat Kohli sits in the top position with 8252 runs, as Padikkal follows him with 1003*, then comes Patidar with 985 before Dinesh Karthik brings up the fourth spot with 937.
Padikkal’s hard work and ability to acclimate to different challenges have proven successful at RCB while becoming an enhanced asset to the team’s batting options.
