Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is going through an extremely tumultuous situation, struggling to get the right combination on the pitch, which resulted in 6 defeats in 8 IPL 2025 games. It can be proved more hazardous in the next season too if they are unable to combine their squad with proper components. 

After the match against Mumbai Indians in Wankhede and ahead of the Sunrisers Hyderabad match, which is scheduled to be hosted on April 25, MS Dhoni, the skipper of the Yellow Brigade, shared his thoughts about team performance and the probable move the management should do to repair the damaged parts, which have already affected Super Kings in pessimistic ways. 

According to MS, "With all the games in front of us that we are supposed to win, we will just take it one game at a time. And if we lose a few, what will be important for us is to get the right combination for next year."

Followed by, "We don't want too many players getting changed. So, I think what will be important is to try and qualify. But if not, get a secured eleven for the next year and come back strong."

The five-time IPL-winning franchise started their ongoing Indian Premier League campaign on a positive note by defeating Mumbai. The following matches carried only gloomy evenings for the former champion side. CSK is missing the spark in their game, which is mostly needed in limited overs cricket, especially in the T20 format. For example, the 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre stepped into the field against the Mumbai Indians with so much exciting talent that opposing team players were left stunned.

Like Dhoni, CSK coach Stephen Fleming also senses almost the same thing the team needs now and probably into the coming days too. 

"We are realistic about the position that we are in. But there will be no stone left unturned looking for players for next year and combinations for next year, and we'll see it as an opportunity. Not a great opportunity, because we want to be at the pointy end of the competition, but if it works out that there's no chance of us getting through, we'll certainly make the most of it," Fleming said.
