In a recent interview, Smriti Mandhana, vice-captain of the Indian women's cricket team, stated that comparing her to Virat Kohli is unfounded and inappropriate, given his legendary status.
Since Mandhana made her international debut for India, fans have drawn comparisons between her playing style and attitude and that of former India captain Virat Kohli. Both wear the jersey number 18 and play for the same IPL franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

As a result, Mandhana is often referred to as the Virat Kohli of women's cricket. However, the opening batter recently dismissed these comparisons, asserting that while Kohli is a great player, the two cannot be compared simply because they both wear the number 18 jersey.
Mandhana has experienced a parallel rise in international cricket to that of Kohli, with both often regarded as the top batters for their respective teams, consistently proving their prowess.
At 28, Mandhana has been in outstanding form in 2024. She scored consecutive centuries in ODIs against South Africa, followed by another century in a Test match against the same team. Her impressive performance continued in the recently concluded Women's Asia Cup.

Mandhana will next be seen in action at the T20 World Cup 2024, where she will be eager to maintain her impressive form. If she continues her recent performances, India will become strong contenders for the title.
The tournament will be held in an Asian country from October 3 to October 20. Spanning 18 days, the T20 World Cup 2024 will feature 10 teams competing in 23 matches across two venues in Bangladesh.
