Jake Fraser McGurk was stunned after experiencing the madness of craze for the former Indian captain MS Dhoni on the field.

The 22-year-old right-handed Australian batter Jake Fraser McGurk made his IPL debut in the 2024 edition. He finished the tournament as the third-leading run-scorer for Delhi Capitals in the season with 330 runs in nine innings with an average of 36.66 and a strike rate of incredible 234.04. He scored four half-centuries in that innings.

I couldn't believe that it was for one guy: Jake Fraser McGurk

In a recent podcast, Jake revealed his special experience during the Delhi Capitals’ match against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings. It was the 13th game of the IPL 2024 at Visakhapatnam, where Delhi Capitals won by 20 runs.

Jake Fraser McGurk said via Unplayable Podcast, "The first ball MS Dhoni hit for a six, it was louder than when he walked in - Whole 30 minutes period was one of the loudest noises I have ever heard. I couldn't believe that it was for one guy."

MS Dhoni scored 20 runs in the last over

While Delhi Capitals scored 191/5 in 20 overs, Chennai Super Kings only scored 171/6.

Coming to bat at no.8, former CSK captain Dhoni started with a four. In fact, he hit three fours of that over. In the final over, while CSK required almost impossible 41 runs, Dhoni slammed two fours and two sixes. Spending just the last 22 minutes of the match as a batter, Dhoni scored 37 not out off 16 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes.

Jake wasn’t in the playing XI for the game as he made his IPL debut later.

Jake made his international cricket debut this year as he has played three ODIs and four T20Is. The youngster holds the record for the fastest century in the List A cricket format scoring a 29-ball century for South Australia against Tasmania at the Marsh Cup.
