During Day 3 of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh, Indian batter Shubman Gill humorously teased his teammate Mohammed Siraj while fielding. The light-hearted moment occurred late in the day when Bangladesh was in their second innings, with Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque at the crease.

As Ravichandran Ashwin bowled the 22nd over, Gill was positioned at silly point for the new batter Mominul. While walking to his fielding spot, Gill shouted, “MohammedSirajOfficial id hai, baaki sab fake hai,” in a playful jab at Siraj. This comment referred to a previous viral video where Siraj announced his official Instagram handle in the same manner, a clip that frequently resurfaces on social media.

Gill and Pant's heroics lead India to dominant victory

After being dismissed for a duck in the first innings, Shubman Gill made a stunning comeback, scoring a brilliant century in the second innings. His knock of 119 from 176 balls, featuring ten fours and four sixes, helped India pile on a massive lead. Gill’s partnership with Rishabh Pant proved crucial, as the duo put on a 167-run stand for the fourth wicket. Pant also contributed significantly, scoring a blistering 109 from 128 deliveries, marking his sixth Test century.

India's mammoth second-innings total gave them a commanding lead of 514 runs, setting up a daunting target for Bangladesh.

In response, Bangladesh was bowled out for 234 runs, with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto being the highest scorer, with a valiant 82 off 127 balls. However, it was Ravichandran Ashwin who stole the show, claiming his 37th five-wicket haul with figures of 6/88 in 21 overs. His all-around brilliance, which included a century in the first innings, earned him the Player of the Match award for the 10th time in his Test career.

India comfortably won the match by 280 runs, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The second Test is scheduled to begin on September 27 at Green Park, Kanpur.
