Scheduled to take place from April 27 to May 2, 2025, the tournament will be held at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru. Promoted as the "world's largest franchise-based cricket esports and entertainment league" on its official website, GEPL Season 2 brings an impressive prize pool of INR 3.05 crores and will feature offline matches over 15 weeks. In a major boost, esports has been officially recognized by the Government of India as a part of multi-sport events.
Following the success of Season 1, where New York Apes claimed the title, the 2025 edition features even more star power. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty owns the Pune franchise, while Sara Tendulkar, daughter of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, is associated with the Mumbai franchise. Major multinational companies are backing teams from Chennai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, adding further prestige to the event.
