The Mumbai Indians haven’t had a great start to the IPL 2024 season, but this isn’t unusual for the team that’s won the championship five times. What’s different this time is that Hardik Pandya has taken over as captain, replacing Rohit Sharma, who led the team for almost ten seasons since 2013. All of Mumbai Indians’ championship wins came under Rohit’s leadership, the latest being in 2020.

Mumbai Indians are known for starting slow in almost every IPL season, but they often manage to reach the playoffs. This season, Hardik and his team have lost all three matches they’ve played so far. In an effort to change their luck, Hardik has turned to religion.

A video circulating on social media shows Hardik Pandya praying at the Shree Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple in Somnath, Gujarat. This came after the team had a retreat in Jamnagar, Gujarat, following a loss to the Rajasthan Royals at their home ground, Wankhede Stadium. While the rest of the squad stayed in Jamnagar, Hardik made the five-hour drive to visit the holy Hindu pilgrimage site.

Mumbai Indians are preparing for their next battel

Next, Mumbai Indians will face Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 7, in an afternoon match. This will be Mumbai’s fourth game of the season, while Rishabh Pant’s Capitals will be playing their fifth. Both teams will be eager for a win: Delhi Capitals are looking to bounce back from a 106-run loss to KKR, while Mumbai Indians are keen to return to winning ways after their initial losses.
