Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana created history during the three-match ODI series opener against England in Nagpur, where the 23-year-old Indian fast bowler made his ODI debut and picked up three wickets that helped the hosts to dominate in England's innings.

Harshir Rana took three in first innings on Test debut

Harshit Rana is going through a great time. Last November, he made his international cricket debut during the Perth Test against the hosts Australia. India won that Test by 295 runs, where the right-arm fast bowler took four wickets (3/48 and 1/69), including a three-wicket haul during Australia's first innings. He also played the next Test at Adelaide Oval, which was a day-night pink-ball Test match.

Rana was also present in the recently concluded home T20I series against England, where India won the series by 4-1. In the fourth match of that T20I series in Pune on January 31, Rana made his T20I debut after replacing Shivam Dube as a concussion substitute. India won that match by 15 runs to seal the home T20I series, while the right-arm fast bowler played a crucial role with the bowling figures of 4-0-33-3.

Now, Rana is playing his first ODI in the Nagpur ODI. While India bowled out the visitors England for 248 runs, Rana was brave and brilliant with the ball in hand. While he conceded 11 runs in the first over in his ODI career, which was the second over of England's innings, he was smashed for 26 runs by Phil Salt in his third ODI over. In that big over, Salt hit three sixes and two fours to Rana.

However, Rana made a great comeback soon after the run out dismissal of Salt. In his fourth over, Rana took two important wickets as he dismissed the set opener Ben Duckett for 32 runs (29 balls; six fours) and Harry Brook for a duck. While another ODI debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal took a spectacular catch to dismiss Duckett, wicketkeeper KL Rahul took another good catch during Brook's dismissal. Later, Liam Livingstone was dismissed for only five runs as the English batter was caught behind by Rahul. The right-arm fast bowler ended that innings with the bowling figures of 7-1-53-3.

With three wickets in each innings of his international cricket format debuts, Harshit Rana became the first Indian bowler to record at least three wickets in all international cricket format debuts.
