The Indian Premier League is a big-money auction where players are bought for crores, but not every expensive player is given a chance to play. Some get paid too much money, never to play one single game of the season. Some names are in the list below.
1. Tymal Mills (RCB - 2017)
England fast bowler Tymal Mills was chosen by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at a massive ₹12 crore in 2017. But injuries and combinations did not get him into the playing XI.
2. Richard Gleeson (MI - 2023)
Mumbai Indians (MI) had Gambled with England's fast bowler Richard Gleeson as a replacement in 2023. Even though he was called a death-over specialist, he wasn't given any game time.
3. Pawan Negi (RCB - 2018, 2019)
Pawan Negi was a big buy for RCB in 2018 and 2019 but never played a single match in those seasons. His form dipped, and the team preferred other all-rounders.
4. Tim Southee (CSK - 2011)
Tim Southee of New Zealand was a part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2011 and failed to get a single match. Established pacers dominated the niche, keeping him on the bench.

Why Does This Happen?
Injuries: The players are injured before or even during the tournament.
Team Combinations: Certain teams have already set their best playing XI.
Loss of Form: If a player does not train well, management also does not want to take that risk.
All these guys were unfortunate. The game remains unpredictable and a different story comes in each season.
