The feat was achieved on the third day of the fifth round of the 2024-25 season. Kamboj, needing just two more wickets at the start of the day, completed his spell with figures of 30.1-9-49-10, surpassing Joginder Sharma’s long-standing Haryana record of 8 for 24 set in 2004-05. Besides Kamboj, the only other bowlers to take all ten wickets in an innings in Ranji history are Bengal’s Premangsu Chatterjee in the 1956-57 season and Rajasthan’s Pradeep Sunderam in 1985-86.

From small-town beginnings to big achievements

Born in the boxing hub of Karnal, Haryana, Kamboj’s path to cricket was unconventional. Growing up playing in open fields, it wasn’t until he was 14 that he took the game seriously.
