Away at the BBL it is certainly been a long time coming for Hobart Hurricanes (finally) finally bringing back maiden trophy. In a nail-biting final at Bellerive Oval, the Hurricanes crushed the Sydney Thunder to great effect and made history in BBL
Fulfilled a Decade-Long Hanger-Neck
Years and years for Hurricanes fans this particular moment has been so long in coming. The club were just two years away from winning runners-up spot more than once (2012-13, ’17-18) and so hungry or thirsty if you will for this. This time though, there was none of the agony with just elation as they absolutely demolished the final to take their first championship.
Sydney Thunder Fall Short in Fight
In the 20 overs, Thunder compiled a decent score of 182/7 and Jason Sangha (67) & David Warner(48) added the runs. But the Hurricanes attacking strokeplay torpedoed any hardwork they did, with Owen getting the final over all to himself in what turned into a one-sided final.

Breaking the Curse
And especially for the Hurricanes, who were one champion away in the 2013-14 and 2017-18 BBL seasons. The franchise obviously had been cast for more years than not in that league "the nearly team", but this win is a dismissal of all misgivings and they are now true champions.
