The warm-up matches of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 have started on May 27 where Canada vs Nepal, Oman vs PNG and Namibia vs Uganda matches took place as well.

The warm-up matches of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 started on May 27 where Canada vs Nepal, Oman vs PNG and Namibia vs Uganda matches took place as well.

Canada vs Nepal – Canada won by 63 runs

Canada and Nepal started the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up action at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas on May 27 (10:30 AM local). However, Canada registered a 63-run victory over Nepal to start their journey on a high note. Nepal won the toss and opted to bowl first. After being put in to bat first, Canada posted a huge total of 183 for 7 in 20 overs.

Nicholas Kirton shined with the bat while coming in at number four as he hit four fours and two sixes in his knock of 52 off 39 balls. Later on, Ravinderpal Singh played a blitzy knock of 41* off 17 with a four and 4 sixes. Canada finished strongly after their allotted overs with 55 runs in the last three overs. However, Nepal bowlers did well in the middle overs, claiming five wickets and conceding 24 runs in the span of 27 balls.

While chasing Nepal, it was difficult to chase with the required run rate of 9.2. Openers Kushal Bhurtel (10 off 16 balls) and Aasif Sheikh (22 off 22 balls) found it difficult to score quickly. Later, Anil Sah (24 off 16) and Kushal Malla (37 off 30) tried their best but a lack of support from others cost them the game. Dillon Heyliger picked up 4 for 20.

Canada vs Nepal Scorecard:

Canada 183-7 (20) (Nicholas Kirton 52 (39), Abinash Bohara 2/27) beat Nepal 120-10 (19.3) (Kushal Malla 37 (30), Dillon Heyliger 4/20) by 63 runs.

Oman vs PNG – Oman won by 3 wickets

The 2nd warm-up match between Oman vs Papua New Guinea took place at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad on May 27 (3 PM local) where Oman registered a thrilling win. Oman won the toss and opted to bowl first. Put into bat, PNG managed a modest total of 137-9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Lega Siaka top-scored with 28 whereas Alei Nao scored a quick 17 with 2 fours and a six as well. Aaqib Sulehri claimed 3 for 22 in his 4-over spell. While chasing, Oman lost their openers quickly. However, Khalid Kail (27 off 26), and Zeeshan Maqsood (45 off 42) steadied the ship. Later on, Mohammad Nadeem played a quick 22 off 11 and helped his side win with 5 balls and 3 wickets in hand.

Oman vs PNG Scorecard:

PNG 137-9 (20) (Lega Siaka 28 (24), Aaqib Sulehri 3/22) lost to Oman 141-7 (19.1) (Zeeshan Maqsood 45 (42), Alei Nao 2/12) by 3 wickets.

Namibia vs Uganda – Namibia won by 5 wickets

The 3rd warm-up match between Namibia vs Uganda took place at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad on May 27 (7 PM local) as well. Namibia won the toss and opted to bowl first. Put into bat, Robinson Obuya scored 38 off 27 with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Alongside him, Roger Mukasa also stepped up with the bat, scoring 51 off 41 with 6 fours and a six. Their combined effort helped them post 134 for 8 in 20 overs. Jack Brassell claimed 2 for 16.

While chasing, Namibia opener Jack Brassell played a fine knock of 54 which came off 34 balls along with 3 fours and 5 sixes. Later, JP Kotze and JJ Smit also contributed and they won the match convincingly.

Namibia vs Uganda Scorecard

Uganda 134-8 (20) (Mukasa 51 (41), Jack Brassell 2/16) lost to Namibia 135-5 (18.5) (Nikolaas Davin 54 (34), Henry Ssenyondo 2/14) 5 wickets.
