A 4-1 series win over England guided Team India to claim the top position in the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings, surpassing Australia. However, after losing the first Test in Hyderabad by a close margin of 28 runs, the hosts bounced back with a bang to win the rest of the four Tests against England. They won in Vizag, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala helping India return to the top spot in the ICC Test Team Rankings.
However, their relentless display in the five-match Test series has helped them overtake Australia as well. The side now has 122 rating points in the ICC Test Team rankings table. Notably, Australia are placed second with 117 rating points, while England are in third place with 111 rating points to their name as well.
Team India will remain at the top regardless of the result of the second New Zealand-Australia Test in Christchurch. However, the ICC World Test Championship 2023 winners Australia currently lead the two-match Test series 1-0 following their 172-run victory in Wellington as well.
