22-year-old young and talented batter Yashasvi Jaiswal bagged his first ICC Player of the Month Award for his stunning performance in the Test series against England. The ICC announced the winner for February 2024 where the youngster beat New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka and won the award as well.

Jaiswal, in an interview with the ICC said that he was honoured to win the prestigious award and hoped that he could bag a few more in the future as well.

“I hope I will be getting more in future” – Yashasvi Jaiswal

“I’m really happy to achieve ICC award and I hope I will be getting more in future,” Jaiswal said after he was informed about the win. “It’s one of the best and this is my first five-match series. I really enjoyed it, the way I have played and the way it’s been and we won the series by 4-1. It’s been an incredible experience with all my mates and I really enjoyed it.”

However, Yashasvi Jaiswal also rated his Rajkot knock of 214* has his memorable achievement.

“I think when I celebrated my double century in Rajkot, I think that was something which I really enjoyed and felt it. And I was, I was living,” he added.

Meanwhile, former Australian spinner Brad Hogg said that Yashasvi Jaiswal will have to change his game when he comes Down Under for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy later this year as well because of pace and bounce. After his swashbuckling show here in India, he will be one of the batters to watch out for when India travels to Australia for the Test series at year-end. And, it will be interesting to see how he will take on the pace trio of skipper Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc as well.

“Jaiswal played exceptionally well” – Brad Hogg

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Hogg said, “Jaiswal played exceptionally well. Now how he is going to play when he comes here (Australia), he is going to have to change his game. Maybe look to use the pace while playing hook and pull shots instead of hitting hard. If he is going to be aggressive, he needs to have a new range of shots to his repertoire because of the pace and bounce in the surfaces.”

“Sarfaraz Khan, I was worried about his game against fast bowling. But some of the pull shots he has played against sheer pace, I can say that he has been working on his game. I think he is just about ready to take on Australia’s pace attack in Australia with some of the pull shots he has played,” he concluded.
