Indian captain Rohit Sharma has finally shown his true form with the bat in the Cuttack ODI, while the hosts are chasing the 305-run target against England. During the early period of the chasing, Rohit surpassed the Caribbean legend Chris Gayle’s ODI record.

England captain Jos Buttler once again chose to bat first after winning the toss in the Cuttack ODI, which is a crucial game for the visitors as they can’t afford another defeat in the ODI series, where they are trailing by 1-0 before the second game of the three-match series. England scored 304 all out in 49.5 overs.

In reply, the Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a solid start. They have set up a century partnership to make a strong statement in the 300+ chase in the ODI match. Captain Rohit Sharma has finally shown his powerful batting form as he has completely dominated the English bowlers. The right-handed opening batter Sharma completed his half-century in 30 balls with the help of four fours and four sixes. After that, the Indian skipper has hit two more sixes till the latest report.

With his first six of the match, which he hit in the second over of the innings against Gus Atkinson, Rohit Sharma surpassed the Caribbean legend Chris Gayle and climbed the second position in the list of most ODI sixes. While Gayle hit 331 ODI sixes, Rohit has crossed him and eyeing on the top of the table, where the former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi is shining with 351 ODI sixes.
