IND vs NZ, T20I: New Zealand 160 (Conway 59, Phillips 54, Siraj 4-17, Arshdeep 4-37) tied with India 75 for 4 (Pandya 30*, Southee 2-27) via DLS method
When players were forced off the field, India were 75 for 4 in the chase, and the par score according to the DLS method was 75 at that point. This occurred after the start of the game was delayed for forty minutes due to a rainy day in Napier. Siraj stopped New Zealand’s rapid start, but Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips led a middle-overs recovery. But Siraj came back toward the end of the partnership to end it. He did this with the help of Arshdeep Singh, and New Zealand collapsed, losing their last eight wickets for just 30 runs. After that, India lost three wickets during the powerplay, but captain Hardik Pandya helped them get back on track. In point of fact, Mitchell Santner misplayed a slap from Deepak Hooda just before play was stopped, granting India the single that brought them level with the DLS par score.
The Conway-Phillips show
After New Zealand chose to bat first after the toss was delayed by half an hour, Conway and Phillips got together in the final power play over. With the new ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar made a lot of movement, but Finn Allen was caught lbw by Arshdeep’s inswing. When Mark Chapman attempted to challenge Siraj, he failed to do so.
When Conway hit a six that was sandwiched between two fours off of Arshdeep’s second power play over, he had just started to get going. He then hit a massive six over deep midwicket using Bhuvneshwar’s speed. He had gone from 2 from 11 balls to 23 off 17 at the six-over mark. After that, he measured the surface by hitting two more fours in Yuzvendra Chahal’s first two overs.
Phillips, too, had to wait a little while to get in. When he was rooted to the crease and outside-edged a Siraj ball after being beaten for pace, he made two of his first three fours via edges: first, when he inside-edged a Harshal Patel delivery between his legs. However, when he imposed successive boundaries on Chahal, he announced his arrival. Before a generously flighted ball from the leg spinner was deposited in the roof of the stands at cow corner, he first powered a quicker one through cover.
Phillips scored his eighth T20I half-century with his pyrotechnics.Conway also got his fifty in the interim. At McLean Park, where the square boundaries were quite short, New Zealand appeared to be targeting a score of 180 or more at 2 for 130 with over four overs remaining.
Siraj – too hot to handle
Not once, but twice, Siraj was called upon to bowl at a crucial point. When he came on to end the powerplay, New Zealand had scored 33 in the previous two overs. Conway was influenced by Chapman’s attacking start, which altered the tempo. When Chapman attempted to flick a short-of-length ball from Siraj, the hosts were 44 for 1; however, Arshdeep made a smart catch by running to his right from midfield.
At that point, Conway and Phillips were working together for 86 runs, and New Zealand was trying to finish high. The number of runs increasing rapidly. India does what? Maybe call Siraj?
He utilized a high-paced guard to have Phillips gotten on the draw prior to raising a ruckus around town length again to have James Neesham top-edge a cross-batted hurl. After that, he sped up his short ball so Mitchell Santner could slice one to the covers. During his time there, he only gave away two fours, one of which was hit by Phillips’ outside edge after he was beaten for pace.
Not the only thing. Siraj hit a direct hit at the bowler’s end to run Adam Milne out in the final over, when he was at a backward point. He had a real field day.
Arshdeep puts his hand up, again
Arshdeep was run out for 19 in his subsequent over after Allen was dismissed and Arshdeep conceded only one. In his third over, Conway and Daryl Mitchell both hit fours, the first at the end (overs 16 to 20). In any case, with a sharp difference in pace, he had Conway opening out to deep midwicket for 59.
He picked up the pace in his next over to surprise Mitchell, who gloved an attempt to pull. To castle Ish Sodhi, who was on the back foot anticipating a bouncer, Arshdeep then turned to his go-to weapon, the yorker.
“SKY” Pandya to the rescue
Ishan Kishan hit Tim Southee, who had replaced Kane Williamson, over point in the first over to kick off India’s chase. After that, he caught Adam Milne with a short ball before Chapman caught him on the edge of the deep-midwicket boundary. Rishabh Gasp then, at that point, struck several fours preceding he was excused by Southee.
India were 3 for 21 in just three overs and in disarray when Southee bounced Shreyas Iyer out with the first ball. Suryakumar Yadav and Pandya, on the other hand, kept attacking to get out of trouble. In just four overs, they added 39 runs, bringing India back into the game. Pandya started India’s six-count with a snide pull, and Suryakumar followed with an extended extra-cover drive to achieve the same result.

However, India slowed down as a result of the introduction of spin, and Sodhi was successful in driving Suryakumar out. Hooda and Pandya then played out several overs before the match was cancelled.
