Two notable inclusions in the squad are all-rounder Shivam Dube and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Their selection adds depth and versatility to India’s squad, providing additional options in both batting and bowling departments.
The wicketkeeping duties will be entrusted to Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant, both dynamic and explosive batters capable of turning the tide of a match with their aggressive stroke play.
India’s spin department boasts a formidable lineup featuring the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav. Their combined prowess provides captain Rohit Sharma with various options to exploit opposition batting lineups.
The pace bowling department comprises experienced campaigners like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, supported by emerging talents like Arshdeep Singh. Their ability to bowl with pace and precision will be pivotal in providing breakthroughs during crucial stages of matches.
While the squad largely follows expected lines, the inclusion of certain players like Yuzvendra Chahal and Shivam Dube may come as a surprise to some. Conversely, the omission of certain established players like KL Rahul highlights the intense competition for spots in the national team.
India finds themselves placed in Group A of the tournament alongside traditional rivals Pakistan and Ireland, Canada, and co-hosts USA. The group stage fixtures promise thrilling encounters, with India set to kick off their campaign against Ireland on 5th June.
